Israel-Palestine Forum at Manchester Univeristy

Date:
25 March 2010

In these particularly difficult times for Israel it is really important that we have a good pro Israel presence at the meeting below:

The student led “Manchester Israeli-Palestine Forum” is to hold its first conference on the 25th of March at 6 pm at University Place, on the South Campus of the University of Manchester. The debate is titled: “Israel-Palestine: Is the two states solution viable?”

Set up in the wake of recent events, the student lead forum aims to promote a place for debate for Pro Palestinian, Pro Israeli and neutral groups on campus and in the local area.

With members from every ideological background, the group has no other agenda than to further the dialogue outside of the usual shouting matches that dominate this issue.

The speakers will come from a very wide range of perspectives:

John Lyndon, Director of OneVoice Europe, grassroots civil society organisation that promotes the two states solution.

Andrew Rosemarine, International Lawyer and Journalist, Former Fellow of the Harry S. Truman Institute for Peace, Jerusalem.

John Rose, Jewish socialist, campaigning activist for the liberation of Palestine, author of "The Myths of Zionism".

Jayab Abu-Safia, Gazan freelance journalist, Student at City University of London as part of the Olive Tree Program Scholarship.

Chair: Dr Peter Lawler, Senior Lecturer in international relations, Univeristy of Manchester.

After short speeches by each speaker presenting their views, the floor will be opened to a Q&A session. Entrance is free, however space will be limited so it is advised that you arrive at the location early in order to secure yourself a seat.
