The dates of the 2010 Sherman Lectures have been changed from those previously advertised. They will now take place in the week commencing 19 April 2010
The Sherman Lectures 2010 will be delivered by Prof. Bernard Jackson on 1Halakhah and the Inheritance of Israel '.
The lectures taking place during the working week will be delivered in the Arts Lecture Theatre of the Samuel Alexander Building, University of Manchester (Building 67 on Campus Map) at 5.15 p.m. on each day. Abstracts will be available in due course.
1. Monday 19th April 2010: 'The Biblical Inheritance'
2. Tuesday 20th April 2010: 'Between the Hebrew Bible and the Rabbis'
3. Wednesday 21st April 2010: 'The Rabbinic Inheritance'
4. Thursday 22nd April 2010: 'Halakhah and the "Inheritance of Israel" in the State of Israel'
Prof. Bernard Jackson
Professor Emeritus, University of Manchester. Formerly Alliance Professor of Modern Jewish Studies; Co-Director of the Centre. Research in the History and Philosophy of Jewish law and its Modern Application including the problem of the agunah. He has now taken up a part-time appointment as Professor of Law and Jewish Studies at Liverpool Hope University.
